Strategic analysis for vessel-related documents, disputes and commercial concerns

Private vessel matters can involve extensive correspondence, technical records, invoices, contracts and conflicting accounts of what happened.

This service is designed for clients who need more than a consultation alone and would benefit from a structured review of an agreed document bundle.

I will examine the relevant information, identify the key legal and commercial issues and help you determine the most practical way forward.

This service may include:

  • Review of an agreed document bundle
  • Preparation of a factual chronology
  • Identification of the central issues
  • A private strategic consultation
  • Written observations and next-step recommendations
  • Drafting or structuring correspondence
  • Preparation for instructing an authorised maritime lawyer
  • Identification of missing documents or evidence
  • Questions to raise with contractors, brokers, insurers or other professionals

Suitable matters may include:

  • Vessel purchase or sale documentation
  • Yacht repair disputes
  • Contractor or supplier disagreements
  • Marina, boatyard or storage disputes
  • Yacht management agreements
  • Unpaid or disputed invoices
  • Insurance-related correspondence
  • Vessel ownership documentation
  • Registration or compliance correspondence
  • VAT and import-document preparation
  • Cross-border vessel matters

What is included in the £495 starting fee?

The starting fee includes:

  • Review of up to 25 pages of documents
  • One 60-minute private video consultation
  • Identification of the key factual, contractual and commercial issues
  • A concise written strategy summary
  • Recommended next steps

You may want to count emails, photographs and screenshots as pages when they form part of the review bundle.

Additional documents

The final fee depends on the volume of documents, complexity, urgency and number of issues involved.

Where the matter exceeds the initial scope, you will receive a clear quotation before any additional work begins.

No additional work will be undertaken without your agreement.

How it works

1. Purchase the service

Complete your purchase and provide a brief summary of the matter.

2. Scope confirmation

You will receive instructions explaining how to submit your documents securely.

The document bundle will be reviewed to confirm whether it falls within the £495 starting scope.

3. Review and consultation

Once the scope is agreed, your documents will be reviewed and your private consultation will be arranged.

4. Written next steps

Following the consultation, you will receive a concise written summary setting out the key issues and recommended next steps.

What to prepare

Please gather the most relevant documents, including:

  • Contracts or agreements
  • Quotations
  • Invoices
  • Proof of payment
  • Email correspondence
  • Relevant messages
  • Repair records
  • Engineering or survey reports
  • Photographs
  • Vessel registration documents
  • VAT or import records
  • Any formal notices or deadlines

Please do not submit large or unfiltered document bundles. Only documents relevant to the matter should be provided.
