Understand the document before you decide what to do next

Legal and commercial documents can create significant consequences long before those consequences become obvious.

A contract, demand, court document, notice, trust instrument, agreement or formal letter may contain obligations, risks, deadlines or assumptions that are easy to overlook without structured review.

The Document Review and Strategy Session combines a limited preliminary review of your documents with a confidential 60-minute online consultation.

The purpose is to help you understand what the document says, what it may mean in practice and what questions or decisions should be addressed next.

This service may be suitable for

  • contracts and commercial agreements;
  • letters before action;
  • formal demands or notices;
  • court or tribunal documents;
  • settlement proposals;
  • property-related documents;
  • trust or estate documents;
  • shareholder or partnership agreements;
  • yacht repair, management, sale or purchase agreements;
  • debt, enforcement or recovery correspondence;
  • business terms and conditions;
  • professional correspondence requiring strategic review.

During the review, I may consider

  • the purpose and structure of the document;
  • key obligations and responsibilities;
  • important clauses, deadlines and conditions;
  • areas of ambiguity or inconsistency;
  • potential legal or commercial risks;
  • whether the wording aligns with your stated objective;
  • issues requiring clarification or specialist advice;
  • the likely practical consequences of signing, responding or taking no action;
  • the most appropriate next step.
